Emily is a Senior Advisor in LRN’s Ethics & Compliance Advisory practice. She counsels executive leadership teams on how to actively shape and manage their ethical culture through deep quantitative and qualitative understanding and engagement. A skilled facilitator, Emily emphasizes co-creative, bottom-up, and data-driven approaches to foster ethical behavior and inform program strategy. Emily has led engagements with organizations in the healthcare, technology, manufacturing, energy, professional services, and education industries. Emily co-leads LRN’s ongoing flagship research on E&C program effectiveness and is a thought leader in the areas of organizational culture, leadership, and E&C program impact. Prior to joining LRN, Emily applied her behavioral science expertise in the environmental sustainability sector, working with non-profits and several New England municipalities; facilitated earth science research in academia; and contributed to drafting and advancing international climate policy goals. Emily has a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a degree in Anthropology.

Ula Ubani
Ombudsperson and Chief Ethics and Conduct Officer, BMO Financial Group

Ula Ubani is the Ombudsperson and Chief Ethics and Conduct Officer for BMO Financial Group (BMO), a publicly-traded diversified Financial Services company serving more than 12 million personal, commercial, corporate, and institutional customers in North America and internationally. 

Ula provides guidance and insight on ethics and conduct management activities across the bank and she leads a team focused on ensuring that BMO’s expectations around ethical business conduct are clear and well understood by employees while providing support to encourage behavior consistent with BMO’s Purpose. Ula is accountable for the development and implementation of BMO’s Code of Conduct, associated learning, and conduct related reporting for senior management and the Board of Directors.  And she also leads the group focused on the impartial review of unresolved Canadian individual or small business customer complaints about BMO’s products or services.

Ula is a recognized thought leader with deep industry experience.  She is the Chair of the Ethics Centre and has a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and is based in Toronto.

Scott Sullivan
Chief Integrity & Compliance Officer, Newmont Corporation

Scott Sullivan joined Newmont's Legal Leadership Team as Chief Compliance Officer in August 2019. Scott oversees the global Business Integrity & Compliance program and reports regularly to the Audit Committee. Prior to joining Newmont, Scott most recently served as the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at Flowserve Corporation headquartered in Irving, Texas, where he led the vision, strategy, and execution for all facets of ethics and compliance. Scott previously worked in private practice in the Dallas office of Strasburger & Price, LLP. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont, as well as a Master of Arts degree in International Relations & Comparative Politics from Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

Teresa Nelson is the Director of Global Compliance at Simpson Manufacturing Co., Inc., a publicly-traded company. For over two decades, Teresa’s passion and focus have been on promoting and protecting Simpson’s unique culture. Simpson Strong-Tie was founded on Barc Simpson’s principles of a values-based, people-focused culture called our “Secret Sauce.”  LRN’s Culture and Leadership Assessment is a critical tool that Teresa uses to fulfill her passion for measuring and ensuring that Simpson’s leaders nurture and adapt how to live these values as Simpson grows. Teresa is responsible for the development of Policies through the Policy Management Program overseeing Simpson’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Speak Up Listen Up Policy, and Whistleblower hotline, among other Compliance risk mitigation programs.
