Three-Year DEI Curriculum

Building a more inclusive and equitable culture
 
To build a DEI culture, training must change employees’ behavior. This type of learning is an ongoing process, and to sustain lasting change, DEI strategies must include constant reinforcement. That is why our curriculum includes four learning stages per year. Each stage consists of three to five components from the six outlined below.

Each stage of the learner journey starts with engagement. An email template kit accompanied by a high-impact campaign video (if available) hooks learners emotionally with the topic and raises awareness in anticipation of further learning to
come.

Y1 and Y2: Primary Learning, Y3: Refresher Training

By gaining knowledge of key DEI concepts and practicing inclusive and equitable behaviors, the primary learning raises awareness of the behaviors that need to change and gives learners the motivation they need to change them. After an introduction to DEI, learners dive deeper into focused DEI topics to expand and apply their learning throughout Y1 and Y2. In Y3, learners take refresher training with the option of testing out.   
  
In Y1, leaders receive a tailored version of the training that helps them adopt a DEI mindset to support their role in nurturing a DEI culture. Subsequent quarters support leaders to confront systemic DEI issues and handle difficult conversations and decision making around those issues.

The primary learning is then reinforced in a scheduled team huddle that reminds learners of the behaviors that need to change and motivates them to pause and reflect before they act. A two-page facilitator guide for leaders guides the discussion.

Quarters 1, 2, and 3 of each year will end with an email booster accompanied by an infographic. These email boosters sustain the DEI buzz throughout the year and reinforce learning with resources that can support learners in the moment.

At the end of each year of the curriculum, the primary learning is reinforced for the final time in a gaming engine called the Beat the Clock quiz that requires learners to demonstrate they can apply the desired DEI behaviors in the workplace. 

Behavior Change Self-Assessment

At the end of each year of the curriculum, learners will also complete a behavior change self-assessment where they analyze how their DEI behaviors have changed throughout the year. This also helps organizations measure training efficacy.
