2024 Code of Conduct Report

Areas of risk highlighted by generational and leadership gaps.

The 2024 Report provides quantitative research and insights on the connection between an organization’s code of conduct and business impact. It dives deep into employee perceptions of codes – their needs, behaviors, and preferences – to enable organizations with the insights needed to better assess risk and advance their E&C programs.

Key findings from this year’s report include:

  • Gen Z employees are 2.5x more likely to bend the rules despite consulting codes of conduct more frequently than older generations.
  • A gap exists in how senior leaders, middle managers, and front-line employees perceive code adherence, with 90% of senior leaders believing the code is followed compared to 81% of middle managers and a drop-off to 69% of front-line workers.
  • Employees are 1.7x more likely to prefer viewing the code in a traditional (PDF) format, suggesting that organizations need to communicate the benefits of digital tools more effectively to encourage adoption.
  • Employees in hybrid work arrangements engage with codes of conduct more effectively than fully remote or in-office workers
