Policy changes with compliance rules will sometimes occur, it’s inevitable. Maybe your workplace recently upgraded to new technology, company rules needed to change to fit new federal regulations, or possibly just that the current rules weren’t working.

Whatever the reason for the changes, changing the rules often creates stress and anxiety in workplaces. Here are three compliance training tips to help employees make changes mindfully in transition:

  • Explain why the rules are changing. Most employees don’t like arbitrary rule changes, and showing the rationale and purpose behind the change will help them understand why the change needed to be made. Employees are more likely to be happy about, and attentive to, rules and changes that makes sense. Be patient and attentive to any questions that arise.

  • Show how new compliance policies will help employees. Often, new compliance rules make life simpler after an initial learning curve. For example, maintaining compliance using new technology is often much easier than previous approaches. Present facts and statistics regarding how employees can save time, and give employees ample time to learn the new implementations.

  • Make the training fun and comfortable. A lively and entertaining training will help mitigate any disappointment that the rules are changing. Keep the training fast-paced and fun, and ensure employees have time to socialize and interact with each other during the session. Put your employees in comfortable seating in a well-lit room, and feed them delicious snacks and beverages.

We specialize in making compliance training enjoyable to all employees, and we’ll make sure employees adapt to and thrive in environments with changing compliance rules.
