What Does It Mean to Be Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines?

 

In this New York Times column by Thomas Friedman, LRN CEO Dov Seidman answers the question: What does it mean to be human in the age of intelligent machines?

“The one thing machines will never have: a heart.”

“Humans, at their most elevated, can inspire and be virtuous…and can build deep relationships of trust,” Seidman tells Friedman. The tech revolution, Seidman argues, will force humans to “create more value with hearts and between hearts.”

“Machines can be programmed to do the next thing right,” Seidman says. “But only humans can do the next right thing.”
